Mom's Christmas Rum and Bourbon Balls
Now here’s the tricky part - how many of these cookies actually make it to the tin after you roll them in powdered sugar?! A fun recipe to make with friends.
ingredients
- 1 7 1/2 oz pkg vanilla wafers
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup pecans chopped fine
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1/4 cup rum
- 1/4 cup bourbon
- powdered sugar
directions
Crush vanilla wafers with rolling pin until fine. Add remaining ingredients except butter, rum and bourbon; mix. Melt half the butter and add rum, pour into 1/2 of the vanilla wafers mixture in a separate bowl. Melt remainder of butter and add bourbon, and pour into remainder of vanilla wafers mixture. Roll the mixture into small (1/2 tsp or so) balls and then roll the balls in powdered sugar. Place on waxed paper to dry overnight; then roll in more powdered sugar.
