Apple Toffee Crisp

ingredients
- Fruit:
- 2 3/4 to 3 Pounds (6 Large) Granny Smith Apples
- 5 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tsp lemn juice
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Topping:
- 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
- 2/3 cup toffee bits
- 2/3 cup flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 8 Tbsp (1 stick) unsalted butter, chilled and diced

Have ready a 9 x 13 inch ovento table baking dish.

For fruit, peel and core apples, and cut them into 8 wedges. Place slices in baking dish and toss with butter and lemon juice. Stir rest of fruit ingredients together and springkle over apples. Toss to coat well.

For the topping, place nuts, toffee bits, flour and brown sugar in a bowl and mix well. Add butter, and using our fingers, rub mixture together until it resembles pea sized clumps. Scatter over apples.

Bake at 350 on center rack, til juicy and topping is golden brown. Remove and cool about 10 minutes. Can be reheated in a 350 oven for 15 minutes. Serve dusted with confectioner’s sugar and with ice cream on the side. Can be garnished with mint.
