7 Layer Jello
An old family favorite made many times.
ingredients
- 4-3oz packages of jello (red, yellow, green, orange)
- 1 pint sour cream
- 2 envelopes Knox gelatin
- White layers:
- Mix until dissolved 2 cups boiling water and 1 cup sugar. Add together knox gelatin and 1/2 cup boiling water. Add to sugar-water mixture. Add sour cream, and 2 teaspoons vanilla, blend with mixer.

Grease a 9x13 pan. Start orange: 1 cup of boiling water, mix well, add 1/2 cup cold water. Pour into pan. let set until solid. 30-45 minutes per layer to harden. Do the same with the other 3 flavors. Set aside until needed.

Pour 1-1/2 cups of the white mixture on top of the orange set jello. Let set 45 minutes to harden. Do the same with the green, white, yellow, white and top all with the red, letting each layer set before adding the next.

I make all the jello at the same time and set out until needed. This hastens hardening to about 30 minutes per layer. For July 4th: Blue, White Red, white Blue, white and top with red on top.
