Mom's Pumpkin Bread
A great fall favorite and a good alternative to pumpkin pie.
ingredients
- 1 cup shortening or oil
- 2 cups white sugar
- 3 eggs
- 2 cups pumpkin
- 3 tsp vanilla
- 3 cups flour
- 3/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 3 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp cloves (optional)
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1/2 cup raisins
directions

cream together shortening or oil, white sugar and eggs and mix in pumpkin and vanilla.

Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves and salt and add to above ingredients. Mix well.

Finally, fold in nuts and raisins and pour into two bread pans.

Bake at 350 for 50 minutes.
