Crème Caramel
ingredients
- 5 eggs
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups milk
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup sugar for the syrup

In small skillet over medium heat, melt 3/4 cup sugar, stirring constantly until it is a light brown syrup; pour immediately into buttered custard cups.

In large bowl, with hand beater, or mixer at low speed, beat eggs, sugar and salt until lemon colored. Gradually beat in milk and vanilla until well blended; pour into custard cups.

Set cups in shallow baking pan; fill pan with hot water to within an inch of top of cups. Bake in 300 degree oven for 1 hour or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Cool on wire racks, then refrigerate.
