Italian Lasagne
ingredients
- 1/2 lb sweet Italian Sausage
- 1/2 lb ground beef
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp dried basil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 can (1 lb) tomatoes
- 2 cans (6 oz) tomato paste
- 1/2 cup dry red wine
- 8 oz lasagna noodles
- 2 eggs
- 3 cups ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp parsley
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1 lb mozzarella cheese

Brown sausage and meat. Drain off fat. Add garlic, basil, salt (1 tsp), tomatoes, tomatoes paste and wine. Simmer, uncovered, about 30 minutes, stirring often.

Cook lasagna noodles, drain.

Beat eggs, add ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, parsley, salt (1 tsp) and pepper. Blend well.

Layer 1/2 noodles in buttered 9x13 inch pan. Spread with 1/2 cheese mixture, add 1/2 mozzarella. and 1/2 meat sauce. Repeat.

Bake at 375° for 30 minutes or until bubbly.

This dish freezes well.
