Combine liquid smoke and A-1 in measuring cup or bowl.

Slice any type of meat with the grain in 1/8" slices. Place in single layer in bottom of glass dish. Sprinkle with salt and and generous amount of black pepper. Brush with liquid smoke/A-1 mixture. Repeat layers until desired amount is reached. Cover with foil and weight down. Refrigerate 12 hours or overnight.

Drain excess liquid off meat. Place on oven racks at very low heat, leaving oven door partially open. Leave in oven overnight or until jerky bends but won’t break.

Store in airtight containers or freeze.
