revised Bread Pudding
Grandmom Aita’s & Joy of cooking revised
ingredients
- 5 slices bread- fresh cut in 1/2 cubes after buttering & sprinkling cinnamon & nutmeg on them
- 4 egg, separated
- 1/2 c sugar(brown sugar optional)
- 2 t cinnamon
- 1 t nutmeg
- 2/3 c butter
- 4 c warm milk
- 2 t vanilla
- zest of 1 lemon + 1Tjuice
- 1/4 t salt

-Butter 5 slices of bread generpusly ;

-sprinkle with cinnamon & nutmeg

-cut into 1/2 " cubes

-Separate eggs
- 5
-whip egg yolks & sugar until light yellow & thick
- 6
-add remaining butter & whip till smooth
- 7
-warm 4 c milk,add vanilla,lemon zest & juice & salt
- 8
-add bread to milk& flavorings & let sit 15 minutes

-whip egg whites to soft peaks & blend into yolks sugar mix

gently fold bread & milk into eggyoks & whites now.

- bake in 9x13x2 pan or 2.5 qt deeper bowl at 325 for 30-45minutes in a water bath.
