These cookies are fun to make. The tips are dipped in chocolate and then colored sprinkles or nuts. Mom made these for friends at Christmas time.

ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/4 cup softened butter or margarine
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp. grated orange rind
  • 1 pkg. (6 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 Tbsp. milk
  • colored sprinkles (2 jars)
  • chopped nuts
  • coconut

directions

Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together. Mix butter with sugar in medium size bowl until creamy; beat in egg and orange rind; stir in flour mixture; blend thoroughly. Press dough through cookie press or pastry bag, using star tube, onto ungreased cookie sheet, making each cookie about 3 inches long. Bake in hot oven (425) for 5-8 minutes or until just brown. Cool throughly on wire racks. Melt chocolate pieces in double boiler over hot water. Stir in milk; beat until smooth. Dip ends of cookies into chocolate then into sprinkles, nuts OR coconut. Place on wax paper until set.
