Custard
ingredients
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups milk
- 2 egg yolks, slightly beaten
- 2 tablespoons margarine or butter, softened
- 1 vanilla bean
directions

Mix sugar, cornstarch and salt in 2-quart saucepan. Stir in milk gradually. Add vanilla bean.

Cook over medium heat stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils. Boil and stir one minute.

Remove vanilla bean

Stir at least half the hot mixture gradually into egg yolks. Blend into hot mixture. Boil and stir one minute.

Remove from heat; stir in butter or margarine and cool.
