Christmas Breakfast

PatriciaPatricia

A Fox favorite for Christmas morning since 1986!

ingredients

  • 1/2 loaf French bread, torn into pieces
  • 2 cups grated cheese (cheddar, Mexican 4-cheese)
  • 1 lb. sausage (cooked and drained) OR diced ham OR no meat at all-just add a little more cheese.
  • 3 1/2 cups milk (any kind)
  • 8 eggs
  • 3/4 teaspoon dry mustard
  • salt and pepper, to taste

directions

  • 1

    Spray a 9 X 13 pan with Pam.

  • 2

Cook and drain sausage. Set aside.

  • 3

Use enough torn bread pieces to cover the bottom of the pan. I tear the pieces into inch squares (approx)

  • 4

Top with cheese, then meat. Beat eggs with milk and dry mustard, salt and pepper. Pour over everything.

  • 5

Cover with foil or saran and refrigerate overnight.

  • 6

Christmas morning, uncover and place in a 300 degree oven for 1 1/2 hours. Serves at least 6-8 people.

  • 7

Serve with Mexican salsa. Fruit and sweet rolls make a nice and easy brunch while opening gifts.

  • 8

This recipe can be changed any way you’d like.

  • 9

Add onions and/or green chilies. Add as much or as little cheese as you like. I’ve only used different types or combos of cheddar. If you’d like a richer taste, use part half and half with your milk.

notes

Make this the night before. As you are opening your Christmas gifts, this will bake with no need of checking on it until the timer rings!
