French Toast Casserole with Praline Topping, Sheila's

ingredients

Casserole List
  • 1 loaf French bread (13-16 ounces)
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups half-and-half
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 Tbsp. granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • dash salt
Praline Topping
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 2 Tbsp. light corn syrup
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • combine all ingredients and blend well.

    Slice french bread into 20 slices,1 inch each.

    Arrange slices in a generously buttered 9x13 flat baking dish in 2 rows. (approx.10 slices per row).

    In bowl combine eggs, half & half, milk,sugar ,vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.

    Beat with whisk until blended.

  • 5

    Pour over bread mixture making sure all are covered evenly with milk mixture. Spoon some of the mixture in between the slicer.

    Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.

    Next Morning,

    preheat oven to 350 F.

  • 9

    Dot Praline Topping over bread mixture.

  • 10

    Bake approximately 45 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.

  • 11

    Serve with Maple syrup

Make ahead of time. Refrigerate over night.
