French Onion Soup
I’ve served this several times as a first course for guests. It always gets rave reviews.
ingredients
- 6 cups thinly sliced onions
- 1 T. sugar
- 1/2 t. pepper
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 6 cups beef broth
- 1 cup red wine (optional)
- 8 slices French bread (3/4" thick, toasted
- 1 cup shredded Swiss Cheese
- Parmesan cheese
