Egg Custard
A Grandma Ethel Hudak Snyder recipe
ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 C sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 C milk (scald)
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- Nutmeg
directions
Preheat oven to 350˚. In a large bowl, beat eggs, sugar, and salt. Add milk slowly to egg mixture – keep mixer rotating to prevent egg custard from curdling. Add vanilla. Pour into individual custard cups or 1 1/2 quart bowl. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Place cups/bowl in a larger pan (13”x 9” works well) filled with hot water. (Water should be to the level of the custard in the cups.) Bake custard in 350 degree preheated oven, 45-50 minutes, until tester comes clean.
