Mom's Lasagne
ingredients
- Sauce:
- 2 28-oz cans crushed tomatoes
- 1 28-oz can tomato sauce
- 2 small cans tomato paste
- 1 1/2 lb ground beef
- 2 italian sausages, casings removed, meat crumbled
- 1 chopped onion
- 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoon parsley
- 1 teaspoon basil
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 cup water
- Cheese filling (enough for 2 layers):
- 1 lb ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup romano cheese, grated
- 2 eggs
- 1 tablespoon parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
- dash garlic salt
- 1 lb lasagne pasta
- 1/2 lb mozzerella cheese, shredded
- 3/4 cup romano cheese, grated

Brown meat, sauté with onions and garlic. Drain. Add remaining ingredients for sauce and simmer 2 hours.

Mix ingredients for cheese filling together.

Cook pasta. Drain and run cold water into pot until noodles are cold. Drain. Spray pan with pam. Put in 1 cup sauce and 2 tablespoons water into bottom of the pan. Layer noodles (5 per layer) with half the cheese mixture. Top with half the mozzerella and some of the romano. Pour 1/3 the sauce over cheese. Add another layer of noodles and repeat. End with noodles, sauce and a bit of cheese.

Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Let stand 15 minutes before cutting to serve.
