Steinmetz Family Lasagna
This is Rob’s favorite lasagna - made with cottage cheese instead of Ricotta
ingredients
- Sauce:
- 1/2 Cup chopped onion
- 1 lb ground beef or sausage
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1/4 tsp oregano
- 3 tbsp parsley
- 1 large can tomatoes
- 1 large can tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp parmesan, grated
- Layers:
- 1/2 Cup paresan, grated
- 1/2 package lasagna noodles cooked
- 1 lb cottage cheese
- 2 packages sliced provolone cheese

Brown onion, garlic and beef together. Add the rest of the ingredients for the sauce and simmer covered over low heat.

In an 8 x 10 pan, layer 1/3 sauce, 1/2 noodles, 1 pkg provolone, 1/2 cottage cheese, parmesan cheese. Repeat. End with last of meat sauce and parmesan. Bake uncovered at 350 for 30 minutes if made without chilling. Can be made ahead - bake 1 hour if it is coming out of the fridge.
