Chocolate Cream Pie
ingredients
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 6 tablespoons cocoa
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 1 cup water
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

Mix sugar, cornstarch, cocoa, salt, and egg yolks thoroughly in a saucepan. Stir in evaporated milk and water until smooth.

Cook and stir over low heat until thickened, about 10 minutes.

Remove from heat, and stir in vanilla. Cover and cool thoroughly. Pour into cold 9-inch baked pastry shell. Spread with meringue and baked as directed. Cool thoroughly before serving.
