Every boy needs a spaghetti sauce recipe; this one makes lots but freezes well; take out the night before leave in refrigerator to defrost and come home to a home cooked dinner

ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef-lean
  • 1 lb sausages removed from casings in clumps
  • one onion chopped
  • couple cloves of garlic chopped
  • parsley if you have it
  • salt
  • basil
  • oregano
  • black pepper
  • 2 28 oz cans tomatoes preferably San Marzano
  • 2 small cans tomato paste or better yet the kind in a carton
  • 1 C red wine
  • 1t sugar
  • 1 8oz can tomato sauce (optional at end)

    In large pot

  • 2

    Fry up the ground beef and sausage

  • 3

    remove with slotted spoon and set aside

  • 4

    fry the onion and garlic in the oil from meat (you may need to pour off some fat first)

    Add all other ingredients except wine

  • 6

    return meat to pot

  • 7

    Bring to boil. turn down heat to low and partially cover.

    simmer for 1 hour

  • 9

    add wine

  • 10

    simmer a little longer check for thickness of sauce can add tomatoe sauce if necessary)

    can add more of any thing to your taste.
