Italian Meat Sauce
Every boy needs a spaghetti sauce recipe; this one makes lots but freezes well; take out the night before leave in refrigerator to defrost and come home to a home cooked dinner
ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef-lean
- 1 lb sausages removed from casings in clumps
- one onion chopped
- couple cloves of garlic chopped
- parsley if you have it
- salt
- basil
- oregano
- black pepper
- 2 28 oz cans tomatoes preferably San Marzano
- 2 small cans tomato paste or better yet the kind in a carton
- 1 C red wine
- 1t sugar
- 1 8oz can tomato sauce (optional at end)

In large pot

Fry up the ground beef and sausage
- 3
remove with slotted spoon and set aside
- 4
fry the onion and garlic in the oil from meat (you may need to pour off some fat first)

Add all other ingredients except wine

return meat to pot

Bring to boil. turn down heat to low and partially cover.

simmer for 1 hour

add wine

simmer a little longer check for thickness of sauce can add tomatoe sauce if necessary)

can add more of any thing to your taste.
