Orange Scone Recipe from Canadian B&B
Bake at 425° for 18-20 minutes.
ingredients
- 1 1/2 C. flour
- 1/4 sugar
- 1 t. baking powder
- 1/4 t. baking soda
- 1/4 t. salt
- 6 T. chilled butter
- 1 T. grated orange peel
- 1/2 C. buttermilk
directions
Preheat oven to 425°. Combine first six ingredients. Stir in orange peel. You may also add 1/3 C. dried currants or dried cranberries. Stir in buttermilk. Stir until soft dough forms and clings together. Dough will be tacky. Lightly flour hands and shape into a ball. Pat dough into an 8 inch round on a lightly greased baking sheet. Cut dough into 9 wedges with a knife. Sprinkle wedges with a little sugar and bake until lightly browned.
