Margot's Red Cabbage
The ultimate red cabbage recipe and a Thanksgiving tradition
ingredients
- 3 heads cabbage shredded
- 1 cup red wine vinegar
- 5 teaspoons salt
- 15 juniper berries smashed
- 8 tbs sugar
- 3 peeled apples finely slices
- 1 1/2 sticks butter
- 1 onion thinly sliced
- 5 cups beef stock
- 1/2 cup red currant jelly
directions

Place cabbage, red wine vinegar, salt,juniper berries and sugar in bowl to marinate

Place apples, butter and onion in a pot and cook until tender

Add cabbage, apples and onion and beef stock in large pot

Cover and cook for 30 minutes

Remove cabbage and boil down liquid
- 6
Add cabbage and all the red currant jelly - toss and serve
