Smokin' Turkey Chili
Hearty and Low-Fat Chili
ingredients
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 Onion, Chopped
- 5 Cloves Garlic, Minced
- 2 Small Green Peppers, Seeded and Chopped
- 1 Habanero Pepper, seeded and Chopped (optional)
- 2lb Lean Ground Turkey
- 1 tbsp Chili Powder
- 2 tsp Red Pepper Flakes
- 1/2 tbsp Paprika
- 3/4 tbsp Ground Cumin
- 2 tsp Dried Oregano
- 1 tsp Ground Black Pepper
- 2 Envelopes Instant Hot Chocolate
- 2 tsp Seasoned Salt
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire
- 1 tsp Liquid Smoke
- 2 (14.5oz) Cans Diced Tomatoes (with or without green chile peppers)Drained
- 1 (8oz) Can Tomato Sauce
- 2 (15ox) Can Kidney Beans, Drained
- 1 Can Cheap Beer
- 2 Cans Kernel Corn, Drained
- 1 tbsp Hot Pepper Sauce (optional)

Measure and combine all dry ingredients in small bowl, set aside.

Heat olive oil in large saucepan over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, green peppers, and habanero pepper; cook and stir until onion is transparent. In large soup pot crumble in ground turkey, cover and cook for about 5 minutes; stirring occasionally, or until meat is no longer pink. Stir in vegetables and discard saucepan.

Season with all dry ingredients. Stir in Worcestershire, liquid smoke, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce and kidney beans. Add beer. Partially cover pan, and simmer over medium heat for about 50 minutes; stirring occasionally.

Mix in corn and hot pepper sauce, and simmer for about 10 more minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

This chili has a nice cool spice to it. Spicy without burning.
