Tasha Tudor's Baked Macaroni and Cheese

(aka Turkey Bowl Macaroni and Cheese)

ingredients

  • 2 cups (7 oz) elbow macaroni
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • Salt and Pepper
  • 4 oz. Velveeta, cubed
  • 1/2 cup crumbled Ritz crackers for topping (actually I probably use more like 1 cup, and I crumble them by putting in a resealable Ziploc bag, removing air, sealing and mushing them with the heels of my hands on countertops)
