ingredients

  • 1 large store bought angel food cake
  • 1/2 pound of butter
  • 1 1/2 cups icing sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 6 tbsp double strength coffee
  • 1 small container whipping cream

    Large 9 1/2” angel food cake. Let stand in fridge over night. Slice across in 3 layers, put together with filling.

    FILLING- cream 1/2 lb butter gradually add 1 1/2 cups icing sugar. Cream together well. Add pinch of salt and 1 tsp vanilla and 2 egg yolks. Beat it thoroughly and add 2 squares of melted unsweetened chocolate and 6 tbsp double strength coffee. Then fold in 2 egg whites, beaten stiff and spread between layers. (cover whole cake chill overnight in fridge. The next day (serving day) frost with whipping cream sweetened with icing sugar and flavoured with vanilla. Chill in fridge until serving time.
