Thai Beef Salad
A great low-carb Thai recipe!
ingredients
- 1 (12 oz or at least 1/2-inch thick) sirloin steak-or about 1 1/2 lb cooked ground beef
- 1 head of lettuce
- 2 bundles green onions
- 2-3 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 tsp fish sauce (available at an Asian food market)
- 1 tbsp soy sauce (golden mountain is best)
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil or any high heat oil
- Dry grilled small Thailand hot peppers-ground up in food processor
- 2-3 lemons
directions
- 1
In your wok (or pan) on high heat, sear the steak (oiled) for 2-3 minutes on each side for medium-rare, then let rest for 5 minutes. Slice into thin strips. Heat wok back up to medium high heat with oil, fish sauce, soy sauce, and garlic for 30-45 seconds.
- 2
Add sliced meat, green onion, and hot peppers for about the same amount of time, stirring constantly. Pour in a serving bowl, squeeze lemons over, and stir again. Peel a whole leaf from the lettuce, put mixture in it, roll it up and eat. This is good with Jasmine rice.
notes
Bill got this from a friend of his from Thailand. He also added that another good recipe for cooked rice is to stir in chopped cilantro and a couple of squeezed limes
