Double-Chocolate Sugar Cookies
ingredients
- 1 (12 oz) package semisweet chocolate morsels, divided
- 1 c butter or margarine; softened
- 1 c sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 c all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 c sugar

Melt 1 cup semisweet chocolate morsels in a heavy saucepan over low heat, reserving remaining morsels. Set melted morsels aside.

Beat butter at medium speed with an electric mixer unfil fluffy; gradually add 1 cup sugar, beating well. Add egg, milk, and vanilla, mixing well. Add melted morsels, mixing until blended.

Combine flour and next 3 ingredients; gradually add to butter mixture, mixing well. Stir in remaining chocolate morsels.

Roll dough into balls, 1 tablespoon at a time; roll balls in 1/2 cup sugar. Place on lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake at 400F for 8 to 10 minutes. (Cookies will be soft and will firm up as they cool.) Remove to wire racks to cool.
