Best Slow Cooked Pork
Set it and forget it!
ingredients
- 3-5 lbs pork: country ribs, baby back ribs, pork shoulder, Boston butt, whatever
- Bottled marinade, any flavor, or a dry rub of:
- salt
- pepper
- cumin
- dry mustard
- garlic powder
- onion powder
- paprika
- cayenne
- cinnamon
- With baby back ribs, add some brown sugar to the dry rub or add honey to the bottled marinade.
directions
- 1
One or two nights before cooking you should marinate the pork with a bottle of marinade. The dry rub can, if you want, be applied immediately before cooking or the day before.
- 2
In the morning set your oven to 225 F. Place the pork in a covered roasting pan or wrap securely in foil. Discard remaining marinade. Cook at 225 for 6 - 8 hours. When you take the meat out there will be a lot of liquid in the pot. Skim off the fat and put the drippings on heat to reduce. In the meantime, separate the meat from any fat or bone. Then add meat to reduced liquid. Serve.

You can also cook cheaper cuts of beef, like chuck, this way for about an hour per pound. You may want to alter the dry rub, i.e., no cinnamon, paprika or cayenne, for beef.
