Sugar Cookies for Christmas
A Christmastime favorite!
ingredients
- 5 cups of flour
- 2 cups of sugar
- 1 cup margarine or butter flavored shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1 Tbsp vanilla
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
directions

1. Mix: sugar and margarine together

2. Beat in eggs

3. Blend in vanilla, buttermilk and baking soda
- 4
4. Mix in flour, salt and baking powder; Chill dough in refrigerator overnight to help firm

5. Pre-heat over to 350°

6. Roll out dough on floured surface

7. Cut out your favorite shapes, “use dough only once”

8. Coat with eggwash (whipped egg whites) and sprinkle on your favorite color sugar.

9. Bake for apprroximatley 10 minutes, or until light brown

Decorating option: bake plain and cover with icing when cool
