The Best Cinnamon Rolls

ingredients

Dough
  • 1/2 tablespoon yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 stick butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 6 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 pinch of salt
Filling and frosting
  • 1 stick softened butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 2 cups powered sugar
  • 1 cup half & half or whipped cream

directions

In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in the water and milk. Add the cream. Let stand for five minutes or until the yeast is foamy. Generously grease another bowl and put it to the side, this bowl is for the dough rising. Add butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla to the yeast mixture. Slowly, add the flour and salt to the wet ingredients and mix well. Place the dough on a lightly floured counter top and knead 4 minutes. Place dough in prepared greased bowl, cover and let rise for 60 minutes. After rising, punch down and roll out on lightly floured counter in rectangle shape. Spread 1 stick of softened butter on top of dough then sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Roll up and cut in 1 inch slices or enough to fit a 9x13 in ban. Bake in 325° for 20-25 minutes for until brown. Make frosting and pour on top of warm rolls.
