Hilo Handrolls
My mom’s version of a california roll. We had the best avocado tree right in our front yard, this was one of my favorite ways to have that buttery avocado. Enjoy with or without shoyu & wasabi.
ingredients
- 1 package sheet nori for sushi
- 3 cups steamed short or med grain rice
- 2 cans tuna in water
- 2 tbsp shoyu
- 1/2 cucumber cut into matchstick pieces
- 1 large avocado cut into 1/4" slices
- 1/3 cup homemade mayo (see recipe)
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp sesame seed oil
directions
- 1
In a medium non-stick pan over med heat sautee tuna with shoyu 10 min or until moisture evaporates.
- 2
Mix mayo, honey and sesame oil.
- 3
Fold nori sheet in half the long way and break into two pieces.
- 4
Cup one end of the nori in your palm, layering width-wise: one spoonful rice, one small spoonful tuna, 1 tsp mayo mix, 1 cucumber slice, 1 avocado slice. Fold short end over diagonally to create a cone tip. Continue to roll to create a cone.
