Mary's Chow Chow
ingredients
- 4 qt chopped cabbage
- 2 qt green tomatoes, chopped
- 2 qt onions, chopped
- 6 large green peppers, chopped
- 5 green hot peppers, chopped
- 1 tablespoon cloves
- 1 tablespoon allspice
- 1 tablespoon celery seed
- 1 tablespoon turmeric
- 3 lb sugar
- 3 qy vinegar
- 2 tablespoon dry mustard
- 3 tablespoon salt
directions
Mix vegetables and add mustard and salt. Let stand overnight. Squeeze juice out of the vegetables the next morning. Mix all spices with vinegar and sugar; bring to a boil and add chopped vegetables. Boil for approximately 20 minutes. Can in sterilized jars. Yield: Approx. 14 pints.
