Pot Roast

Pauline’s delicious Pot Roast recipe.

ingredients

  • 1 Beef roast (chuck, rump or any of the less expensive cuts) 2-3 pounds
  • 3 tbsp. butter or margarine
  • Small onion
  • Bay leaf
  • 1 beef bouillon cube

directions

    Light flour, salt and pepper both sides of roast.

  • 2

    Grease well roaster or heavy deep pan.

  • 3

    Put 3 tbsp. margarine or butter in pan and put roast in pan.

  • 4

    Have oven at first 350-375 degrees to brown both sides.

  • 5

    Turn down to 325 degrees.

  • 6

    Add onion and bay leaf and cover.

  • 7

    Note: If roast is very lean, you may soon have to add 1 cup of water.

  • 8

    Keep roast moist by adding water.

  • 9

    You may use the beef bouillon cube to enhance juice for gravy.
