Lori's Famous Lasagne
Red Sauce with meat and 4 cheeses
ingredients
- 12 Lasagna noodles (no boil variety is ok)
- 1 egg beaten
- 1 pint ricotta cheese
- 1 pkg. Parmesan cheese
- 1 pkg. Romano cheese
- 1 pkg. Mozzarella cheese
- 1 1/2 lbs. Ground chuck
- 1 medium sweet yellow onion- diced
- 1 Tbs. sugar
- 1 large can stewed tomatoes- diced (or run thru food processor)
- 1 jar spaghetti sauce
- 1 bottle Lambrusco red wine
- Garlic, oregano, basil, salt & pepper

Red sauce – combine spaghetti sauce, stewed tomatoes, 1 cup red wine,4 cloves of chopped or crushed garlic and half of onion. Add sugar. Simmer over low heat for as long as possible…at least 30 mins. Taste and add more wine if needed.

Brown ground chuck along with remaining onion, basil, oregano, salt and pepper. Add garlic last. Combine with red sauce and simmer together for another 20 mins.

Layer lasagna noodles 3 across with sides not touching (they will expand) in pan that has been greased in olive oil. Mix egg and ricotta mixture, add oregano and basil, salt and pepper. Pour over lasagna noodles, cover with a little of each of the cheeses, top with red sauce then start another layer. Continue layering with mozzarella cheese on bottom; build up until all layers are done, top with red sauce and Parmesan and Romano….Cook at 350 degrees in covered pan for 45 mins. Let set for at least 15 mins. Serve

Italian sausage may replace the ground beef, or eggplant...be creative
