Oven Baked Fries with Roasted Garlic, and Cheese

The combination in this recipe might be one no one ever thinks about... Roasted sweet Garlic, and rich Gravy, all poured over crunchy French Fries, sprinkled generously with a sharp Cheddar, but after one bite, I wouldn’t be surprised if a certain American French Fry Place doesn’t try to claim it there’s.

  • You’ll Need:

  • 1 Large bag, Frozen skin-on(if desired) Steak Cut Oven French Fries

  • 3 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil

  • 2 Heads of Garlic, Intact

  • 2 Tablespoons Butter

  • 2 Tablespoons All Purpose Flour

  • 16 Ounces Low- Sodium Beef Stock

  • Salt and Fresh Cracked Black Pepper

  • 4 Ounces Gruyere Cheese, Grated

  • Preheat oven to the French Fries Specifications. Usually approx. 450 degrees.

  • Pour Fries onto a baking sheet, and coat lightly with Olive Oil. Toss thoroughly.

  • Remove Outermost skin from Garlic head, but keep the bulb intact. Shave off just the top of the bulb like when cutting the tip off an Onion.

  • Drizzle every exposed clove with Olive Oil, and rub with fingers. Wrap and seal each clove with Aluminum Foil.

  • Roast Garlic on the top rack of the Oven. Bake Potato’s on the top rack as well. After cooking half way, toss them again, with a spatula. Bake until golden brown, and crispy. Sprinkle with Salt and Pepper.

  • Garlic is ready when cloves are soft, when pressed.

  • While potato’s are baking, I like to prepare my gravy. Yes you can use canned or powdered... it saves time, but home-made is always better. And if these are for company, or guests at a cocktail party, go the extra mile, and make home-made.

  • In a saucepan, heat Flour and Butter. Stir until it becomes one mass, and cook stirring frequently, until it is the color of peanut butter.

  • Add the stock little at a time, whisking at the same time. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium- low , and simmer until thick. Season with Salt and Pepper, and remove from heat.

  • On a nice-looking serving dish, place fries in a big heap and top with shredded gruyere cheese, and hot gravy. Place Garlic bulb on plate.

  • To eat, squeeze the Garlic onto fries and smear.

  • Enjoy.
