Danny’s favorite dinner.

ingredients

  • 2 tbsp. canola or olive oil
  • 2 lbs. cubed stew beef
  • 2 large onions
  • 2 cloves of garlic, peeled, miced (or subsitute frozen garlic cubes)
  • 1 c. ketchup
  • 2 tbsp. worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp. brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tbsp. paprika
  • 1 tsp. yellow mustard
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. water
  • Optional: Serve over egg noodles

directions

  • 1

Heat oil in 3-4 qt. pot over high heat and brown meat on all sides. (You can also use a large frying pan with high sides)

  • 2

Add onions and garlic and sautee for 2-3 mins.

  • 3

Add ketchup, worcestershire sauce, sugar, paprika, mustard, salt, and 3/4 c. water. Mix well.

  • 4

Simmer, covered, for approximately an hour and a half, checking and adding more water if needed.

notes

1) I often half this recipe using 1 lb. beef, 1 onion, etc. and it comes out fabulous! 2) The recipe calls for an additional half hour of cooking uncovered on simmer and then before serving to blend 2 tbsp. of flour and a 1/2 c. water. I never do this.
