Ham and Asparagus Squares
This is an appetizer but could be used as a breakfast pizza or a light dinner with a salad!
ingredients
- 1/2 lb fresh thin aspapagus spears
- 1 8oz. can crescent rolls
- 1 1/2 cups finely shredded swiss cheese
- 1 1/2 oz. thinly sliced prosciutto or deli ham cut into 1 inch strips
- 2 tsp. olive oil
- 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes

Heat oven to 375.In a 10 inch skillet, heat 1/2 inch water to boiling. Add asparagus, reduce heat to med-low and simmer 2-3 minutes. Drain. Plunge in ice water to cool. Drain on paper towels.

Unroll dough on ungreased cookie sheet, press into 11x8 rectangle firmly pressing seams to seal.Prick dough generously with a fork. Bake 6-9 minutes or until golden brown.

Remove baked crust. Sprinkle with 1/2 cheese, top with ham, top with remaining cheese. Arrange asparagus over top. Brush with oil and sprinkle with pepper flakes. Bake 5-7 minutes longer or until edges are deep golden brown. Cool 5 minutes. Cut and serve.
