ingredients

  • 8 oz. pkg of spaghetti noodles
  • 2 c. chicken broth
  • 2 c. 1/2 & 1/2 or milk
  • 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 2 T. Italian seasoning
  • 2 T. garlic powder
  • 1 T. creole seasoning
  • 1/2 c. slivered almonds
  • 1/2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 c. cubed cooked turkey or chicken
  • 1 c. chopped baby bella mushrooms (optional)

directions

Cook spaghetti per package directions, rinse with cold water and drain. Preheat oven to 350°. Melt butter in a deep skillet. Whisk in the flour to make a roux. It will be pretty lumpy. Whisk in the broth, then the 1/2 & 1/2 or milk, in small increments.Mix in the salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, garlic powder and creole seasoning. Heat over medium high to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil for 1 minute. Stir in the spaghetti, turkey, mushrooms and almonds. Spread into an ungreased 2 qt casserole dish. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes or until hot and bubbly.
