This rich soup is expensive, but worth it!

ingredients

  • 8 potatoes, diced
  • 2 can Swanson chicken broth
  • 1 c. water
  • Salt & Pepper, to taste
  • 1 stick butter (Land of Lakes-salted)
  • 1/2 c. chopped celery
  • 1/2 c. chopped carrots
  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 2 T. chopped parsley
  • 4 (6-8oz) lobster tails (Sam’s Club has best prices)
  • 1 can minced clams
  • 2 can crabmeat
  • 2 cans Campbells Clam Chowder
  • 2 cans Campbells Potato Soup
  • 3 cloves pressed garlic or 3 t. minced garlic
  • 2 c. whole milk
  • 1-2 pints Half and Half (best to buy 1 quart so you can add until you get thick consistency/richness)
  • 1 or 2 cups shredded American Cheese
  • Optional: Add 2 T. dry Sherry

    **WARNING: SIMMER SOUP ONLY; DO NOT BOIL.

    First, BOIL:

    -Potatoes in Swanson Chicken broth, water. Salt & pepper to taste. SAVE LIQUID.

    Second, SAUTE:

  • 5

    -1 stick butter, celery, carrots, onion, parsley.

    Third, BOIL:

    -Lobster tails, then chop into bite size pieces.

    -Add Lobster to butter mixture & add this mixture to the potato & liquid mixture you saved.

    Lastly, ADD:

    -1 can minced clams

  • 11

    -1 can crab meat

  • 12

    -2 cans Campbell’s Clam Chowder

  • 13

    -2 cans Camp bells Potato Soup

  • 14

    -3 cloves pressed garlic

  • 15

    -2 c. whole milk

  • 16

    -1 pint of Half and Half (or more until get correct consistency/richness

    -1 or 2 cups shredded American Cheese

    -Add 2T. Sherry when ready to serve.

Our German Family tradition included Oyster Stew at Christmas Eve, which was carried on until the death of Grandma Milton and Alta Zillig. Dee Dee then revamped the Oyster Stew recipe & made it into this wonderful SEAFOOD Chowder.
