Chocolate Wok Cake

ingredients

  • CAKE:
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 tbsp. butter
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • FROSTING:
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 squares semi sweet chocolate
  • 1/2 stick butter, softened
  • 2 tbsp. Hershey’s cocoa
  • 4 tbsp. confectioners sugar
  • 1 to 2 tbsp. strong coffee

    Sift dry ingredients except for baking soda. Mix well - push to sides of bowl, making a well in the center.

    Pour boiling water into center, add butter & baking soda; let butter melt and then mix.

    Add egg & vanilla and mix again - pour into a greased 9" round layer pan.

    Place on a steamer rack in a wok and cook on top of stove for about 30 minutes or until set.

    To make frosting boil heavy cream; take off heat. Add semi sweet chocolate & mix together until melted. Cool.

    To 1/2 stick softened butter add 2 tsp.Hershey’s cocoa, 4 tbsp. 10x sugar & 1 to 2 tbsp strong coffee. Mix well, add to rest and allow to cool.
