Atlasta Good Beef Sandwich
Helen Millward’s award winning sandwich recipe. She was crowned Sandwich Queen of America in 1960 and was awarded an all-expense paid trip to Europe for 2 and $500. This sandwich was on the menu at the Spudnut Shop, and is still served at the Cock and Bull in Fallon, Nevada.
ingredients
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon onion soup mix
- 1 teaspoon prepared horseradish, well drained
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Dash of pepper
- 12 slices cold roast prime rib of beef, sliced thin (8 ounces)
- Butter or margarine
- 8 slices Russian rye bread
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 4 slices garlic dill pickle

1. Combine sour cream, onion soup mix, horseradish, salt and pepper.

2. Measure half of sour cream mixture; add to beef slices and toss gently to mix.

3. Butter bread.

4. Lay three slices of beef on each of 4 buttered bread slices. Top with crisp lettuce leaf and tablespoon of sour cream dressing, then cover with second slice of buttered bread.

5. Cut diagonally in half. Garnish with garlic dill pickle slices.
