From Grandma Tomes, a variation of Christmas Pastries.
- 1 1/4 lbs. walnuts, ground fine
- 1/4 lb. butter
- 4 egg whites, stiffly beaten
- 1/2 c. scalded milk
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/4 to 1/2 t. grated lemon rind
- 1 egg (for brushing on top of pastries or nut roll)
Another delicious holiday sweet! Grandma Tomes used to make these when she'd come out for Christmas.
