Perfect beans to have with any BBQ. I got the base for this recipe from my uncle, the plain beans can be interchanged with any other type of beans and the pork and beans can be substituted with other prepared beans such as chili beans or ranch-style beans. as long as the basic ratio remains the same.

ingredients

  • 2 cans red beans
  • 1 can white beans
  • 1 can pinto beans
  • 2 cans pork and beans
  • 1 lb bacon
  • 1 red bell pepper (chopped)
  • 1 white onion (chopped)
  • 2 jalapeno peppers (diced)
  • 2-3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/3 Cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 Cup molasses
  • 1/3 Cup ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp yellow mustard
  • Salt & pepper, heavy pinch each

directions

Chop up and cook bacon, when done drain fat and set aside. Pour both cans of pork and beans into a 6qt pot. Drain and rinse remaining beans and pour into pot. Add peppers, onions, garlic and bacon to beans. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer on low for about 3 hours. Add more sugar, molasses or S&P to taste if needed.

notes

Excellent slow cooker recipe. Just prepare as directed into a 4.5-5QT slow cooker and cook on low for about 6 hours.
