Portillo's Italian Beef Sandwich
ingredients
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic salt
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 pkg Italian salad dressing mix
- 1 large container beef stock (4 cups)
- 1 lb rare roast beef sliced thin (from deli counter)
- soft baguette (softer the better)
- shredded mozzarella
directions
Combine the first 11 ingredients in a pot. Bring to a simmer. Drop in your roast beef. Let simmer on low for 2-3 hours. If you want, slice up some green peppers and cook in the same pot as the roast beef for the last 20-30 minutes. Fill your baguettes with mozzarella and then add roast beef. Roll in foil and bake in the oven for 5-7 minutes at 350 °.
