Aunt Linda's Beef Stroganoff

BryanBryan Lear

This one is a beef stroganoff I have made forever, and Rachelle used to ask for this for her special birthday dinner, before she was a vegetarian!

ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds of lean round steak, cubed. I like to use sirloin, also
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tablespoon fines herbs
  • cooking oil, and I use olive oil now
  • 1/2 cup diced sweet onion
  • 2 cubes of beef bouillon
  • 1 1/4 cups boiling water
  • 1/2 cup diced dill pickles
  • 1 6 ounce can tomato paste
  • 1 cup sherry
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 4 ounce can mushroom
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 pound package broad noodles

directions

Shake steak cubes with flour and herbs in brown paper bag. Brown cubes in oil about five minutes. Saute onions until tender. Dissolve bouillon cubes in boiling water and mix with steak, onions, pickle, tomato paste, sherry, mustard, Worcestershire sauce and mushrooms and simmer at 200 degrees in an electric skillet for 2 hours. (you can use oven, but might have to adjust temperature a little higher). Add sour cream and simmer 15 minutes longer. Serve over broad noodles cooked according to package directions. May be frozen. Serves 6. Add a nice salad, and some good warm bread, and enjoy!
