World's Best Macaroni and Cheese
ingredients
- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 1 small yellow onion, minced
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 cups whole milk
- salt and pepper
- nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper
- 2 1/4 cups shredded sharp cheddar
- 2 tbsp bread crumbs
- 4 1/2 tbsp unsalted butter

1. Cook elbow macaroni and drain, set aside

2. In large saucepan heat 3 tbsp butter, add onion and saute on low 8 min. Add flour, stir and cook for 3 min. Add milk, salt, pepper and cook until mixture begins to bubble and simmer for 2 min

4. Turn heat off and add nutmeg, red pepper, 2 cups of cheese and stir. Add macaroni and mix together

5. Pour macaroni mixture into baking dish, sprinkle with rest of the cheese, butter and bread crumbs

6. Bake at 350° for 20-25 min
