ingredients

  • 5 cups old-fashioned oats, uncooked
  • 2 cups butter (4 sticks) softened
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 12-ounce packages semisweet-chocolate pieces
  • 1 8-ounce milk-chocolate bare, grated
  • 3 cups walnut, chopped (optional)

    Blend oats in blender to a fine powder.

    In a large bowl, with mixer, cream butter and both sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla.

    In another bowl, combine oatmeal powder, flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Add oat mixture to butter mixture; beat until just blended. With wooden spoon, stir in chocolate pieces, grated chocolate, and optional nuts.

    Roll dough by rounded teaspoon into balls; place two inches apart on un greased cookie sheets. Bake 12 to 15 minutes at 375o until golden brown and delicious.
