BREADS - Yeast Loaf or Rolls
ingredients
- 1 Pkg. Yeast
- 1 tsp. Sugar
- 1/4 Cup Warm Water
- 1 Cup Milk
- 1/4 Cup Sugar
- 1/4 Cup Shortening
- 1 Egg, Beaten
- 3 1/2 Cups Flour
- 1 tsp. Salt

Dissolve yeast and 1 tsp. sugar in warm water.

Scald 1 cup milk and pour over 1/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup shortening.

When cool, add egg and yeast mixture. Beat in 1 1/2 to 2 cups flour with 1 tsp. salt. Beat hard.

Add rest of flour (to total 3 1/2 cups).

Let rise one hour. Put on floured board and knead. Shape into rolls, loaf or however you want and let rise one hour.

Bake at 350° for about 15 minutes.
