Skyline Chili
This is supposedly the actual recipe used by the Skyline Chili restaurants. I’m not convinced, but it’s still really good.
ingredients
- 2 lb. ground beef
- 3 cups water
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 15 ounces tomato sauce
- 1 T. chili powder
- 1 t. ground allspice
- 1 t. ground cinnamon
- 1 t. ground cumin
- 1/2 t. cayenne pepper (opt.)
- 1/2 t. salt
- 1 1/2 T. unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 T. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 T. cider vinegar
directions
- 1
In medium saucepan, mix raw beef into water until it is all broken up and “soupy” (do NOT brown first).
- 2
Stir in the rest of the ingredients. Bring to a boil.
- 3
Lower heat. Simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, for approximately 3 hours.
- 4
Serve over cooked spaghetti and top with grated cheddar cheese (3-way), and/or chopped onion (4-way) and/or kidney beans (5-way).
