Beer Bread
ingredients
- 3 1/2 c. flour
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1 12 oz. beer
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 6 oz, grated cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
- or
- 2 1/2 cups self-rising flour
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 3/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 (12 fluid ounce) can beer
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted

Mix flour and sugar. Mix together the beer and the egg, then add to the flour mixture. Add the cheese. Put into a loaf pan. Top with melted butter and Bake 350 for 1 hour.

If the bread is done check by tapping the bread, it will sound hollow.

Crusty Beer Bread

2 cups self-rising flour

3 tablespoons sugar

1 (12-ounce) can beer (do not use light beer)

4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Oil or butter a standard loaf pan.

In a bowl, combine the flour, sugar and beer, and mix with a wooden spoon until well-blended and sticky, about one minute.

Pour the dough into a prepared pan and bake for 30 minutes.

Remove the bread from the oven and pour the melted butter over the top.

Bake for 30 minutes more, until lightly browned on top.

Cool in the pan, then remove, and serve with whipped butter.
