Sausage Basil Roll
Delicious in the morning or for dinner. Great with an egg on top for a hearty breakfast.
ingredients
- 1 box Pillsbury Hot roll Mix
- 1 lb cooked sausage
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzerella
- 3 Tbl butter
- Pesto
- 2 cups basil
- 1/2 cup nuts (pine nuts, cashews, almonds, etc..
- 3 Tbl olive oil
- 1 Tsp lemon juice
- 1/3 cup parmesan cheese
- 1 clove garlic
- pinch of salt
- 1 cup quartered mushrooms
- 1/2 cup red pepper
- 1 sliced med. onion
- 1 small tomato
- 1 garlic clove
- extra olive oil

Prepare hot roll mix as box instructs and let rise in ball on counter 30-50 minutes

Prepare pesto by mixing all ingredients in food processor or blender

Roll out dough to a rectangle shape. Spread with the butter then the pesto. Sprinkle on sausage and cheese and roll up. Cut into equal rings like cinnamon rolls.

Lay out in greased pan and press down gently. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes till golden.

Meanwhile, saute all the remaining veggies in skillet till soft and pour over rolls on the plate when they are done.
