Golomki (Stuffed Cabbage)
The following is a Polish dish passed down from Anna (Dan’s great-grandmother) to Barbara (Dan’s grandmother) to Deborah (Dan’s mother) to Whitney (the love of Dan’s life!)
ingredients
- 1.25 lb ground pork
- 1.25 lb. ground beef
- 4 eggs
- 2 medium onions
- 2 cans or 1 large of tomato soup
- 2 heads of cabbage
- rice
- salt and pepper
directions

1. Cut the bottom core from the heads of cabbage. Slowly boil heads of cabbage, pulling off leaves as they loosen.

2. Remove the loose leaves from the boiling water and set each leaf aside

3. Mix meat, eggs, salt and pepper
- 4
4. Dice onion and fry in margarine. Add to mixture.

5. Soften 1 C of rice. Add to mixture.

6. Add water until mixture is loose (no longer sticky)

7. Role meat in cabbage leaves and place in pan.

8. Cover the rolls with any extra cabbage

9. Mix tomato soup with only 1/2 the required water. Pour soup over golomki.

10. Cover with foil. Cook at 340 for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
